The first attempt to reach the island was a bit too early, as there was still too much ice in Tyynilahti to prevent a boat trip.
When we reached Kuikanpesä, everything seemed to be in order, but alas, the middle and end parts of the pier had completely failed from their joints due to the compression of the ice and were only saved by ropes on our shore.
