A new apartment
After a long wait, we finally moved into our new apartment in September 2000. We had already seen the Rose Garden apartment building two years ago, but we had to cancel our move because we had invested a considerable amount of money in furniture in our previous apartment, and it was not easy to get rid of it here.
Our new apartment is located in the Giang Vo district on Ngoc Khanh Street. We can guarantee that pronouncing those names is difficult, as they are pronounced something like [Schang Vo-o] and [nhjop khäng], but we should also give you some hints about the lip positions so that you don't think you said something else. We were happy to get an apartment on the top, 16th floor of the building, and installing a satellite dish on the roof was easy.
The apartment is furnished and we also have a microwave, computer, a few chairs, small tables, a parasol and whiteboards. The air conditioning system seems to work so well that we don't need the two large additional fans that we bought at the time.
We have also had time to furnish the apartment with plates purchased from the Bat Trang Ceramic Village, as the living room ceiling has a practical shelf where the residents can put their decorative items.
As you can see, the views from the balcony in the southeast-southwest direction are really great. The overall view is perhaps a bit too apartment-oriented, as there aren't many lakes or parks in this direction. However, we have already spent maybe half the time in a few days as we did in our previous apartment in seven months.
The apartment is only two years old and all the materials, including the doors, windows, kitchen furniture and the air conditioning, are top-notch. The kitchen is pleasantly bright and the refrigerator door displays the memories we have collected during our time here. In the very top left corner is our guardian angel, who has protected our half for almost three years.
Here you can see the Daewoo building complex a few kilometers from our apartment. From left to right, it has a hotel, an apartment building, and an office building. We also went to see this apartment building, but we didn't end up there and now we really feel like we made the right decision.
With the video camera's zoom, you can really get in focus and we'll end by adding a couple of interesting views of the houses in the alley. The first one shows a balcony where the satellite dish has turned into a drinking bowl for pigeons, and the second one shows some kind of miniature temple on the roof of the house.
