Outlander & Google Earth, Echo included!

Who wouldn't like to know where are Craigh Na Dun, Lallybroch, Ardsmuir, River Run, Fraser's Ridge or L'Hopital des Anges?

With Diana Gabaldon's books one gets a Grand Tour to Scotland, North Carolina, Paris and even to the West Indies. Diana describes the nature in so diverse manners that you really would like to see, where it all is happening.

We have tried to find these places and put them and many more on the Google Earth. The main location of each chapter in each Outlander book can be found by downloading OutlanderGE_1.4 to Google Earth (if you have GE installed, just click the link). It now includes the places in the Echo.

Each book can be chosen separately, so you might want to click them on as you proceed in your exploration. When you get to Dragonfly in Amber, load also Rumsey's Historical Maps from Gallery in the Level Menu (left down in the side menu bar) by choosing the map finder feature. And then you just for example in vicinity of Paris just click the Rumsey thumbnail for Paris 1743 and the map will load. Similarly you could invoke North America 1733, but it is more general and the geography is not as exact as it is now.

Google Earth is freeware and you can download it from earth.google.com.
